COMMERCIAL MOTORCYLISTS CRUSHED TO DEATH WHILE RUNNING FROM POLICE

A commercial motorcyclists, identified as Rahman, was alleged to have been chased to death by men of the Nigerian Police Force at Akowonjo Roundabout, Alimosho Local Government yesterday in Lagos state.

The late Motorcycle ( referred to as Okada)  rider was said to have been crushed to death by a fast moving articulated vehicle at about 6pm while trying to evade policemen who patrols the road in bid to enforce the Lagos Traffic law which restricts the use of motorcycle along the road.


The incident resulted in traffic gridlock and motorists were stranded for hours as Okada riders within the vicinity went on the rampage to protest the death of their colleague. The deceased was said to be Tailor who only rides his motorcycle in the evening.

It took a combined team of regular and anti-riot policemen to restore normalcy  by shooting in the air to scare away the rampaging youths and okada riders.
