AMVCA - Summary in Few words!

The AMVCA Started with Actors, Actresses, Directors, Producers and Others trooping in for the award ceremony.

The lighting and the stage was on point. I use the word on point because it's barely a week when fire gutted their premises but the crew pulled through. Thumbs up.

The show kicked off around 6pm Nigeria time with backstage, red carpet interviews and photoshoot out. Uti Nwachukwu interviewed so many celebs, Same as Denrele, Nic (BBA) and few other TV personalities all around Africa.

The Congolese Comedian cracked our ribs with his fun jokes. His enh and oh was so infectious that Amstel Malta Boss repeated same when he had to present his award category.

Winners were not limited to Nigeria Alone, South Africa carted over 4 awards with Nigeria leading of course.

Ik was calmed through the presentation unlike Vimbai the co-presenter who acted panicky at some points on the stage, her presentation and her English was superb. Her shortcoming for me was most of her dresses where not appropriate for her body type. The red and blue ballerina dress was the only dress i fancy out of all her attire.

The high notes for me where when the tributes came in for Late Goldie Harvey, Long achievement and Outstanding actor award was presented to Olu Jacobs. His speech was quite moving and very emotional.

Mrs Diezani represented the President whom was absent at the ceremony and she read a note penned by the Presidency.

The low point was seeing some Actors and Actresses on stage. On Facebook, a group having the fashion police session had comments coming in about the dreadlock of Actor, Desmond Elliot. The Actor obviously forgot that he has aged and he longer has the boyish charm. The dread was a turn off for most of us. Infact fashion critics says the actor would have been handsome in his blazzer if not for his "dread", I hope his wife takes note of this if she gets to read this.

Omotola Jalade was looking super sexy in her hot number but was visible that she has added tones of weight just like her Ghanaian counter part Jackie Appiah. Jackie wore a red number and she went home with the Best Actress of the year Award.

It was also disappointing that Liz Benson after years of absense from the Nigeria Entertainment scene presented an award with her drab "Afro Hairstyle" and dull apparel. She thanked her husband who was sitted in the audience for making it possible for her to be present at the award ceremony.

Mercy Johnson carted the award for the best Comedy flick but she was absent. Patience Ozulor aka Mama Gee collected the award on her behalf.

Being the first award, there where so many hitches that was visible to the audience at home. For instance, the ladies coming onto the stage had to help themselves with all their heels and all, all the presenters had to complement themselves as if they were forced to do so, Majid was dragging a sheet from the hands of Stephen nora Okere, another was cossy with Geneviev Nnaji but had to quickly drag his hand off when the audience was "ohing and ahingg" at him(Gene was clearly embarrased), An actress was holding AKI like a child on stage, there was little flow between IK and Vimbai( the atmosphere around them looks forced), Vimbai over talked most time, Ik cuts her off and gave her odd looks few times.

It was also observed that overall Movie selections seems limited i could count total of about 12 movies in all.

Unto entertainment part of the ceremony,  Kurukere Master, Iyanya thrilled the audience to his jams, Souti Sol from Kenya got twitter busy as most people wanted to know where they had been all along. Tiwa Savage rocked the show. I love her Oleku. Banky W showed Africa why he is still the master when it comes to R&B/soul. A malawi singer rendered a beautiful song.

The great Femi kuti rounded the show on a high note.

Overall, the show was a success.

See you next year AMVCA ( Eliaza reporting from Behind her TV)..#laughs#
