36 students now in detention over murder of student/singer Damuche

Over 70 students have been arrested over the murder of singer Damuche and another student who was also murdered following Damuche's death.

Special Anti-robbery squad screened and interrogated affected students before releasing 35 of them. Since examination has commenced and these students are still in custody of the SARS,it implies that they will have automatic carry over of some courses, as the school authority claims they would not interfere in the investigation or appeal on behalf of the suspects.

If you recall, Damuche was murdered in the school premises in February this year, he has since been buried according to Muslim rites.

The Students union president made an appeal to the school authority to step into the matter so that affected students can write their examination. His pleas has fell on deaf ears as LASU still takes a stand at not interfering in SARS investigation.

Effort to reach the school authority to verify the matter proved abortive as calls to the telephone number of the spokesperson for the institution, Sola Fosudo was not picked.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. John Obafunwa, when contacted, directed all inquiries to his deputy. A senior official of the school, who craved anonymity, said the school would not make any concession for them as it was not the school’s fault that the students missed out the examination.
